Where parents could pick up their kids without guilt, where anxiety wasn&#8217;t worn like a badge of honor, where time belonged to humans rather than spreadsheets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Agile Six, we eliminated managers, offered unlimited wellness time, created equal pay structures, and built trust as our starting point rather than something people had to earn through exhaustion and compliance. We proved something I&#8217;d suspected but had never seen in practice: when you trust people with time and autonomy, they don&#8217;t abuse it\u2014they use it to become more fully themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results were remarkable. When you eliminate structures that treat workers like children who need constant supervision, people stop acting like children. When you replace command-and-control with true stewardship and peer accountability, you don&#8217;t get chaos\u2014you get more leaders, not fewer. The same work got done in less time, not because people were driven harder, but because the friction of mistrust and permission-seeking was dramatically reduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But here&#8217;s what we also learned: <strong>you can&#8217;t build an island of sanity in an ocean of madness.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When the Sea Keeps Rising<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The outside world kept crashing over our carefully constructed walls. Clients still expected 24\/7 availability. Partners still measured success by hours logged rather than problems solved. The broader culture still treated burnout like an extreme sport, something to boast about at networking events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s when I realized: the problem isn&#8217;t people failing to be resilient enough. <strong>The problem is the system itself.<\/strong> I&#8217;d been playing defense when I should be playing offense, trying to protect my team from forces I should be fighting to change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even the most thoughtful sanctuary cannot remain untouched by the wider world indefinitely. You can create remarkable things inside the walls of your organization, but walls are porous. <strong>Instead of just protecting what we&#8217;d built, I needed to help create conditions where experiments like ours could emerge everywhere.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Choice Before Us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right now, artificial intelligence is advancing faster than most people realize, and with it comes both tremendous opportunity and genuine danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The productivity paradox that has defined our era threatens to repeat itself with unprecedented scale. Most full-time workers already put in 42-plus hours, and many work 50, 60, or more, with the digital leash ensuring that &#8220;time off&#8221; rarely means truly off. Where did all that extra value go? It flowed upward, to shareholders and executives\u2014to anyone except the people whose labor and ingenuity actually created it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now AI is about to trigger the biggest productivity leap in human history, and we&#8217;re positioned to make the same tragic mistake again\u2014unless we fight for something fundamentally different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can let AI optimize us into spiritual emptiness, or we can use it to reclaim what makes us most human: time for reflection, space for relationships, room for the slow work of becoming who we&#8217;re meant to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From Island to Archipelago<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The work I&#8217;m being called to now goes beyond any single organization. Our experiment proved something crucial: when you design organizations around trust rather than control, around human flourishing rather than pure efficiency, people don&#8217;t just survive\u2014they thrive. But that proof of concept was just the beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now the urgent work is building the bridges that will allow such experiments to survive and spread. That means policy work, cultural change, and building alliances with others who see what&#8217;s possible when we prioritize time and human dignity alongside productivity and profit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Good design inside organizations must be matched with public architecture that changes the default incentives.<\/strong> Internal transformation plus external scaffolding equals durability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The moment we&#8217;re in demands more than incremental reform. It demands a new social contract, one that ensures the unprecedented wealth that AI will generate flows not just to those who own the machines, but to all of us whose creativity and labor made those machines possible in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Work Ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I can&#8217;t create this future alone\u2014no one can. Change this profound requires all of us: workers and business owners, parents and children, voters and the people they elect to represent them. But it begins with a choice to stop accepting current conditions as inevitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The future isn&#8217;t something that simply happens to us, like weather we&#8217;re powerless to influence. It&#8217;s something we build together, decision by decision, conversation by conversation, vote by vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What if, instead of one isolated island, we built an archipelago?<\/strong> What if we created so many experiments in human-centered organization that they became impossible to ignore or overwhelm?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What if we chose to remain human in an age of machines?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s the work ahead of us. That&#8217;s why I&#8217;m increasingly drawn to writing, to policy conversations, to building bridges between the isolated experiments that are already happening everywhere. Hvor foreldre kunne hente barna sine uten d\u00e5rlig samvittighet, hvor angst ikke ble b\u00e5ret som et \u00e6restegn, hvor tiden tilh\u00f8rte mennesker og ikke regneark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hos Agile Six fjernet vi mellomledere, innf\u00f8rte ubegrenset tid til velv\u00e6re, etablerte likel\u00f8nn, og bygget tillit som utgangspunkt i stedet for noe folk m\u00e5tte bevise gjennom utmattelse og lydighet. Vi beviste noe jeg alltid hadde mistenkt, men aldri sett i praksis: n\u00e5r du gir mennesker tid og autonomi, misbruker de det ikke \u2013 de bruker det til \u00e5 bli mer av seg selv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Resultatene var bemerkelsesverdige. N\u00e5r du fjerner strukturer som behandler ansatte som barn som trenger konstant oppsyn, slutter folk \u00e5 oppf\u00f8re seg som barn. N\u00e5r du erstatter kommando og kontroll med ekte tillit og ansvar mellom likemenn, f\u00e5r du ikke kaos \u2013 du f\u00e5r flere ledere, ikke f\u00e6rre. Den samme jobben ble gjort p\u00e5 kortere tid, ikke fordi folk jobbet hardere, men fordi friksjonen av mistillit og tillatelsess\u00f8king ble dramatisk redusert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Men vi l\u00e6rte ogs\u00e5 dette: <strong>du kan ikke bygge en \u00f8y av fornuft i et hav av galskap.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">N\u00e5r havet fortsetter \u00e5 stige<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Omverdenen skylte stadig over v\u00e5re n\u00f8ye konstruerte murer. Kunder forventet fortsatt 24\/7 tilgjengelighet. Partnere m\u00e5lte fortsatt suksess i timer registrert, ikke problemer l\u00f8st. Den bredere kulturen behandlet fortsatt utbrenthet som en ekstremsport, noe \u00e5 skryte av p\u00e5 nettverksarrangementer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Da inns\u00e5 jeg: problemet er ikke at folk mangler motstandskraft. <strong>Problemet er selve systemet.<\/strong> Jeg hadde spilt forsvar n\u00e5r jeg egentlig burde spilt angrep \u2013 jeg pr\u00f8vde \u00e5 beskytte teamet mitt fra krefter jeg burde jobbet for \u00e5 endre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selv det mest gjennomtenkte fristed kan ikke forbli uber\u00f8rt av verden rundt for alltid. Du kan skape noe bemerkelsesverdig innenfor organisasjonens vegger, men veggene er por\u00f8se. <strong>I stedet for bare \u00e5 beskytte det vi hadde bygget, m\u00e5tte jeg bidra til \u00e5 skape forhold der eksperimenter som v\u00e5rt kunne oppst\u00e5 overalt.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Valget foran oss<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Akkurat n\u00e5 g\u00e5r utviklingen innen kunstig intelligens raskere enn de fleste aner \u2013 og med den f\u00f8lger b\u00e5de enorme muligheter og reelle farer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Produktivitetsparadokset som har preget v\u00e5r tid truer med \u00e5 gjenta seg i en skala vi aldri har sett f\u00f8r. De fleste heltidsarbeidere legger allerede ned 42+ timer, mange 50, 60 eller mer, med den digitale lenken som s\u00f8rger for at \u201cfri\u201d sjelden betyr virkelig fri. Hvor ble all den ekstra verdien av? Den fl\u00f8t oppover, til aksjon\u00e6rer og ledere \u2013 til alle andre enn menneskene hvis arbeid og oppfinnsomhet faktisk skapte den.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">N\u00e5 st\u00e5r vi foran det st\u00f8rste produktivitetsspranget i menneskehetens historie, og vi er i ferd med \u00e5 beg\u00e5 den samme tragiske feilen igjen \u2013 med mindre vi kjemper for noe fundamentalt annerledes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vi kan la KI optimalisere oss til \u00e5ndelig tomhet, eller vi kan bruke den til \u00e5 gjenvinne det som gj\u00f8r oss mest menneskelige: tid til refleksjon, rom for relasjoner, plass til det langsomme arbeidet med \u00e5 bli den vi er ment \u00e5 v\u00e6re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fra \u00f8y til \u00f8ygruppe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arbeidet jeg trekkes mot n\u00e5 g\u00e5r utover enhver enkelt organisasjon. Eksperimentet v\u00e5rt beviste noe avgj\u00f8rende: n\u00e5r du designer organisasjoner rundt tillit i stedet for kontroll, rundt menneskelig blomstring i stedet for ren effektivitet, da overlever ikke bare mennesker \u2013 de trives. Men dette beviset p\u00e5 konsept var bare begynnelsen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">N\u00e5 handler det om \u00e5 bygge broene som gj\u00f8r at slike eksperimenter kan overleve og spre seg. Det betyr politisk arbeid, kulturell endring, og \u00e5 bygge allianser med andre som ser hva som er mulig n\u00e5r vi prioriterer tid og menneskelig verdighet sammen med produktivitet og profitt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Godt design innen organisasjoner m\u00e5 matches med en offentlig arkitektur som endrer de grunnleggende insentivene.<\/strong> Intern transformasjon pluss ekstern st\u00f8tte gir varighet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00d8yeblikket vi lever i krever mer enn gradvise reformer. Det krever en ny samfunnskontrakt, en som sikrer at den enest\u00e5ende rikdommen KI vil skape ikke bare tilfaller dem som eier maskinene, men oss alle \u2013 vi som med v\u00e5r kreativitet og v\u00e5rt arbeid gjorde maskinene mulig i utgangspunktet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arbeidet som ligger foran oss<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jeg kan ikke skape denne fremtiden alene \u2013 ingen kan. S\u00e5 omfattende endring krever oss alle: arbeidere og eiere, foreldre og barn, velgere og de folkevalgte. Men det starter med et valg: \u00e5 slutte \u00e5 akseptere dagens tilstand som uunng\u00e5elig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fremtiden er ikke noe som bare skjer med oss, som v\u00e6ret vi er maktesl\u00f8se til \u00e5 p\u00e5virke. Det er noe vi bygger sammen \u2013 beslutning for beslutning, samtale for samtale, stemme for stemme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hva om vi, i stedet for \u00e9n isolert \u00f8y, bygget en hel \u00f8ygruppe?<\/strong> Hva om vi skapte s\u00e5 mange menneskesentrerte organisasjoner at de ble umulige \u00e5 overse eller kvele?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hva om vi valgte \u00e5 forbli menneskelige i en maskinenes tidsalder?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Det er dette arbeidet som ligger foran oss.
